Be the change, join the chain

About Donation Chain Inc.:

We are a non-profit organisation who provide Hygiene Packs for the Homeless. All items are donated by members of the community, then sorted & packed by volunteers at our monthly working bee. They are then delivered to individuals and to community organisations who work with the same clientele.

We also operate the Donation Chain Inc. showers found at the end of Playne St Frankston to assist the local survivors have a well earned warm shower in a safe and friendly environment!

Our Aim:

We aim to grow our organisation in order to secure more services, resources and support for survivors

The successful candidate will:

  • Have the ability to generate rapport and communicate with our clients
  • Provide supportive referrals where needed (We can help guide you with this)
  • Operate the showers alongside another volunteer
  • Offer and/or put together hygiene care packs to clients when needed

We require a couple of volunteers to operate the showers from 12:30pm until 1:30pm (potentially a bit longer, but usually shorter depending on how many people arrive) every Friday. If you can volunteer on Sundays and Tuesdays as the same time that would be even more helpful, but not required. We have a fantastic rapport with the rough sleepers who use our services and we require volunteers to continue this. It is important to keep in mind that we do not judge them for their choices (ie. if something comes up you disagree with in conversation), and we do not encourage religion with them.

We will offer all training and guidance, and you will potentially obtain the opportunity to receive formal training in different areas.

Reporting to the founder, you will be able to join us to be one of the main driving forces to improve the lives of those less fortunate!
